Dogs must be measured by 2 TDAA judges to determine their actual
jump height which will be 4", 8", 12" or 16". Veteran
dogs--those 7 years of age and older--may jump 4" lower than
their measured jump height. The TDAA judge will determine if
the dog qualifies for body type jump height exemptions which
allow the dog to jump 4" lower than measured height--for long
backed dogs, weight to height provision by structure (not
obesity), and dwarfish legs/deep chest dogs. These exemptions
are described in the TDAA rules which are online at the TDAA
website.
Dogs measuring 8" or less will jump 4"; dogs measuring 12" or less
will jump 8"; dogs measuring 15" or less will jump 12"; and dogs
measuring between 15" and 17": will jump 16".

TDAA recognizes 3 table performances--sit, down, and
stand. A stand count begins when all 4 paws have touched the
table and the dog is standing still. A comfort shift is
allowed. The table count for all performances is a cumulative
count.

TDAA offers
courses and titling in both standard and games. The standard
courses offer similar challenges to other venues but on a
smaller scale. The Games courses are the "heart" of TDAA.
Games can challenge you in many, many different ways--the sky is
the limit! Don't be afraid though--the judges are always there
to make sure you understand the rules. TDAA is an extremely fun
and friendly atmosphere where exhibitors help each other
understand the strategy of the game.

Many TDAA
exhibitors compete in more than one agility venue. TDAA
promotes communication with your dog especially in games where
each one is different. Some exhibitors feel that it promotes
understanding of contacts for their dogs and skill in handling
techniques for the handlers.

There are sample game
courses and briefings on the TDAA website Judges Briefings page.

All dogs
who compete in TDAA must have a dog registration number obtained
by completing the dog registration form and sending it with $12
to the TDAA address on the form. This can be done prior to
entering a trial or can be done at a TDAA trial. This is a
lifetime registration fee for this dog. Individual membership
is an option that exhibitors have--it is NOT required to
register your dog or to compete in TDAA sanctioned events.
Individual membership is $25 for 3 years which entitles you to
vote on important issues for TDAA such as rules, regulations,
officers, and bylaws; obtain the quarterly newsletter; and have
access to the Members Only section of this website.
